Snipwell is a local-only text expander for Chrome.
No data collection
Snipwell does not collect, transmit, sell, or share any personal information, browsing activity, or usage data. There are no analytics, no telemetry, and no remote servers. Snipwell never contacts a server of its own. The one exception to "nothing loads from the network" is images: if you paste an image into a rich snippet, it loads from its original host when the snippet is previewed or expanded.
Local storage only
Your snippets and settings are stored only in your browser, using Chrome's extension storage. They never leave your device unless you export them to a file yourself.
Page access
Snipwell's content script runs on pages you visit solely to detect when you type one of your shortcuts and replace it with your snippet text. It does not read, record, or transmit anything you type. Expansion is disabled in password fields.
Permissions
The extension requires the storage permission, which it uses to save your snippets and settings on your device, and activeTab, which is used for one thing: when you open the popup, it lets Snipwell read the current tab's address so the "Off on this site" toggle can name the site. Nothing about the page is stored or sent. If you save a snippet containing the {clipboard} placeholder, Chrome asks for the optional clipboardRead permission. With it granted, Snipwell reads the clipboard only at the moment such a snippet expands, inserts the text into the field you are typing in, and stores nothing.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be published at this address with an updated date.
